Medical Physicist; Richmond, VA

The Medical Physicist will work at the clinic site in collaboration with the Cancer Care Leadership to ensure high quality and safe delivery of radiation therapy, support staff education, and maintain regulatory compliance.

• Calibration of dose meters and radiation equipment, including dosimetric inter‑comparisons for QA and accelerator monitor unit calibration.
• Beam data acquisition for treatment planning.
• Preparation of data for treatment planning systems.
• Development and improvement of dose‑measurement systems, protocols, and software for dosimetry purposes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations for radiation safety.
• Participate in organizational performance‑improvement activities, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
• Assist in acceptance testing and commissioning of new machines and re‑commissioning after major maintenance.
• Perform individual treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and planning reviews.
• Provide physics consultation to all radiation‑oncology personnel and oncologists.
• Ensure routine verification of the department treatment‑planning system.
• Collaborate with information services on software management of the planning system.
• Assist with planning and shielding calculations for new facilities and programs.
• Interpret and prepare documentation summarizing regulatory changes for integration into operations.
• Provide dosimetry checks following source changes.
• Assist with the selection and acquisition of sources for permanent implant techniques.
• Participate in clinical education, training, and competency evaluations for medical physics, dosimetry, and therapy staff.

• Located or willing to relocate to Richmond, VA or surrounding area.
• M.S. or Ph.D. (preferred) in Medical Physics or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 2+ years of clinical experience in addition to a CAMPEP‑accredited residency.
• Candidates who have passed the Part‑I and (possibly) Part‑II A  Exams preferred.
• Experience with high‑dose‑rate (HDR) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) programs preferred.
• Computer system administration experience with patient record and verify database applications desirable.
• Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by the American Board of Radiology (A ) or other certifying body.
• Unsanctioned candidates must be eligible for board certification and achieve status within 3 years of hire.
• Must apply for and maintain relevant state licensing and/or registration as required.

• Base pay range: $185,320 – $254,815.
