Job DescriptionBishop O’Connell High School has an immediate opening for a security staff member. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position works closely with school administration to ensure campus safety, monitor school activities, and foster positive relationships within the school community. This is a 12-month, non-exempt, full-time, hourly position.
Typical hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Occasional evenings and weekends are required for athletic events, school activities, and special events.
- Monitor and patrol school buildings, grounds, parking lots, and athletic facilities.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment during school hours and extracurricular activities.
- Monitor entrances and exits, ensuring visitor check-in procedures are followed.
- Respond promptly to security concerns, emergencies, disturbances, and incidents.
- Support administrators with student supervision and conflict de-escalation.
- Investigate and document incidents, accidents, and policy violations.
- Assist with emergency preparedness procedures, including drills and crisis response plans.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency personnel when necessary.
- Provide security coverage for athletic events, school dances, graduations, and other special events.
- Monitor security cameras and report suspicious activity.
- Promote positive interactions with students while serving as a visible and approachable presence on campus.
- Enforce school policies and procedures in a professional and respectful manner.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Hourly rate is $22 to $25 per hour, commensurate with experience. Full benefits offered: paid FML, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 403(b) and retirement plans.
