Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. You will be part of the Assets Protection (AP) teams that keep guests, teammates, and the brand secure, mitigating shortages, preventing theft and fraud, and ensuring a safe store environment.

The Target Security Specialist uses intelligence‑led tactics to keep guests and teammates safe, provides crisis response, de‑escalation, and supports the store’s security culture with video surveillance and case documentation.

• Create a friendly and secure shopping experience.
• Greet guests within 10ft with a smile, eye contact, or wave; greet at 4ft with a warm interaction.
• Assist guests in finding items and resolving issues.
• End each transaction with a sincere thank‑you.
• Support team efforts and maintain a positive, respectful attitude.
• Promote a physical security culture by maintaining safe standards throughout the store.
• Respond to and document security incidents promptly.
• Use de‑escalation tactics and resources during incidents.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide apprehension support.
• Perform receipt checks to prevent front‑of‑store theft.
• Submit incident documentation following AP policies.
• Use Target’s video surveillance system effectively.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; report hazards.
• All other duties based on business needs.

• Minimum age 18.
• High‑school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet all state or local licensure or legal requirements.
• Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and teammates.
• Effective communication on multiple frequency devices; operation of handheld scanners and technology.
• Strong teamwork and flexibility; ability to prioritize tasks independently.
• Capacity to remain composed and focused in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to climb ladders, apprehend subjects, handle merchandise up to 40 pounds, and work in varying temperatures.
• Consistent availability during scheduled shifts and required breaks.
