Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Position
Transdev is hiring a Part Time Diesel Mechanic to serve Arlington Transit. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines on various vehicles and equipment to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity.
Compensation- A Tech: $41.00‑45.20 / hr
- B Tech: $33.00‑36.38 / hr
- C Tech: $31.00‑34.18 / hr
- Company‑paid ASE testing, training materials, and tool reimbursement
- Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel engines.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
- Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
- Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and develop comprehensive repair strategies.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
- Other duties as required.
- 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
- ASE certifications required; certification program provided.
- Mechanic’s Tool Set.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; 100% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations.
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances on uneven or slippery surfaces.
- Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds; lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access equipment stored at ground level.
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.

- Successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
