Location & EmploymentCrystal City, Virginia – Full‑time hourly position.
Travel RequirementRequired throughout MD, VA, & DC and the Mid‑Atlantic region.
Pay$23.00–$31.00 per hour based on experience.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Pile Driver / Welder experienced in driving sheet, H, and concrete piles, and in welding (stick, MIG, TIG, oxy‑acetylene). Candidates must be D1.1 or D1.5 certified, possess a valid driver’s license, be able to work at heights up to 150 ft, and travel the Mid‑Atlantic area. This safety‑sensitive position requires compliance with federal contractor drug‑testing and safety policies.
Responsibilities- Connect hoses and perform whip checks.
- Pre‑prep wale steel for installation.
- Ensure proper stud layout and install lagging plates and Hilti bolts.
- Operate chainsaw and other equipment safely.
- Serve as spotter for equipment moves.
- Weld studs and miscellaneous items using cutting torch.
- Climb piling leads up to 160 ft to position piles.
- Use burning torch to cut piles.
- Use tools to dig, pry, hammer, and shovel.
- Carry, load, unload, and stack material.
- Climb embankments and ladders to reach work area.
- Hook and rig material for crane movement.
- Measure and mark piles with tape.
- Record statistical data for load tests and other piling operations.
- Clean up project site of debris.
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- AWS welding certification (D1.1 or D1.5) required.
- Min. 2 years of pile‑driving experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and structural welding certification.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work at heights up to 150 ft.
- Must be able to travel in the Mid‑Atlantic area.
- Lift up to 60 lb from ground to waist level and 30 lb to above shoulder level.
- Work at heights up to 150 ft.
- Continuous standing and walking throughout shift.
- Perform grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
- Climb ladders and perform bending, squatting, kneeling, and crawling.
- Work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, and humid conditions.
- Have acceptable corrected vision and hearing.
- Reach, lift, and work above shoulder height on uneven surfaces and confined spaces.
