Position: Commercial Service Technician 1 - Arlington, VA

Electrical Service / UPS Installation Systems Technician

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints and building plans.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain EMS systems, smart breakers, electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and components.
  • Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine material requirements and installation procedures.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using test devices.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components with test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Travel 60% of the time across the United States to perform regional service duties.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED with a minimum of five (5+) years of experience in the electrical service industry, including UPS system installation.
Candidate Expectations
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug test.
  • Possess an acceptable driving record if the position requires company vehicle use.
  • Excellent working knowledge of electrical tools and testing equipment.
  • Comfortable using smart devices (smartphones, tablets) and multiple web‑based applications.
  • Committed to excellence and high‑quality work.
  • Wear OSHA approved boots, shoes, pants, and a shirt with at least seven (7) inches of shoulder coverage.
  • Consistently report to work on time and work well with others to maintain a safe environment.
Desired / Advantageous Qualifications
  • Possess a journeyman’s license or equivalent in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Additional certifications such as Lift and Aerial Training, NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or UPS installation knowledge.

Abilities
  • Lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at heights up to 60 feet, including on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
  • Perform repetitive movements such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Maintain good vision (corrected as needed), color vision, hearing, and English communication skills.
  • Use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Recognize when something is wrong or likely to be wrong without solving the problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical solutions.
  • Integrate disparate pieces of information to derive general conclusions or relationships.
  • See details at close range (within a few feet).
  • Listen to and understand spoken information and ideas.
