Global Science & Technology (GST) is seeking a Software Developer to join our team. The position has been approved for a hybrid work schedule and will work onsite at our Arlington, VA location.

Perform analysis, design, and implementation of software and enhancements for NASA's NSPIRES application (  ). Responsible for successfully implementing the code on the operational system, including full integration and test.

• Research emerging technologies. Perform experimental setup, coding and Dev Ops related work. Document the results.
• Recommend tools, methodologies and technologies based on research.
• Work diligently on the maintenance of legacy system as well as on future cloud-based system.
• Develop software engineering standards to be followed by other engineers. Follow general specifications provided by manager.
• Design and develop distributed applications using Java, Java EE and Oracle.
• Participate in system and database design meetings. Verify software architecture and interface design.
• Cooperate with other team members through peer reviews to ensure proper coding standards, quality assurance, and verification procedures are employed
• Actively participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements development, architecture, design, implementation, testing, and operations, with limited supervision
• Staying on top of emerging technology trends and innovations.
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, Essential for interacting with and managing Oracle databases. Oracle Database Administrative skills would be a plus.
• Java-based scripting languages and frameworks (Groovy, Grails).
• Having experience with Python and exposure to AI/ML would be an added advantage.

BA or BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of related experience (time towards degree counts as related experience)

• Proficiency in Java, Java EE and Java-based technologies.
• Knowledge of Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Splunk, Maven, Ant and Jenkins important.
• Knowledge of JSF, Myfaces, Facelets, Struts, EJBs, Hibernate, Spring, Ajax.
• Expertise in Oracle Database and Web Logic Application Server
• Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithm design.

Salary at GST is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $80,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of the GST total compensation package for employees.
