Senior Software Development Engineer – S3 Request Processing

Amazon S3 powers businesses across the globe, improving consumer lives daily. As a Senior Software Development Engineer in S3, you will build and enhance services that handle billions of requests per month, integrating with the S3 API, leveraging distributed micro‑service architectures, pattern recognition, and machine learning. You will also mentor and lead junior team members.

The S3 Request Processing organization builds the next generation of services to process customer request metadata, provide logging and eventing solutions, and analyze requests at massive scale. Your duties include:

• Design and develop new services and enhance existing ones using distributed micro‑service architectures.
• Integrate micro‑services with the S3 API and handle 100s of trillion transactions per month.
• Apply pattern recognition and machine learning techniques to analyze requests efficiently.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet performance, reliability, and scalability goals.
• Mentor and guide more junior teammates.

• 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming in at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scalability).
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or engineering team lead.

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

• Base salary range: $ – $ annually (USA, VA, Arlington).
