Job Overview

Apogee Research is at the forefront of a revolution in how the DoD operates, moving toward compositional systems of systems instead of traditional monolithic architectures. This shift requires the ability to field resilient, distributed systems in days to weeks rather than months to years, and demands custom software tool chains combined with feedback control to adapt dynamically to changing environments.

Design, implement, and validate new algorithms across multiple domains including networking, distributed data fusion and resource management, distributed electronic warfare, and distributed Command and Control (C2). Provide thought leadership in algorithm development and ensure solutions perform reliably at scale in contested and resource‑constrained environments.

• Strong understanding of probability and statistics.
• Experience with control systems and the ability to characterize open‑loop and close‑loop stability of nonlinear systems through analysis, simulation, and experimentation.
• Academic theory combined with practical application of research techniques to real‑world problems.
• Proven track record of applying research to real‑world problems; entry‑level positions not considered.
• Some software development experience preferred, though this is not a primary software development role.

The position is located in our Arlington, VA office. Existing DoD Top Secret clearance is strongly preferred; otherwise all candidates must be eligible to obtain one and must be a US citizen
