Software Dev Engineer, EC2 Instance Connectivity

Join the Amazon Web Services EC2 Instance Connectivity development team responsible for connectivity services to AWS EC2 instances. This team owns services that enhance customers' observability and troubleshooting by providing a suite of tools to connect to their EC2 instances that adhere to enterprise scaling and security requirements.

• Own one or more projects and be responsible for the entire software lifecycle, from design to development and operations.
• Design and develop large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services.
• Collaborate with the team through daily meetings, code reviews, and frequent communication to progress on security, customer experience, and feature development.
• Apply industry best practices and attend conferences, trainings, and knowledge sharing sessions to stay up‑to‑date.
• Support and troubleshoot Linux and networking protocols as needed.
• Leverage experience leading and influencing teams, debugging, profiling, and implementing engineering best practices.

• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
• 3+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 3+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience in Linux and networking protocols, troubleshooting Linux OS and network issues.
• Experience with server, storage, networking, or large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience leading and influencing teams or organizations, debugging, profiling, and implementing software engineering best practices in large-scale systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

The base salary range for this position in Arlington, VA is $ – $ USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
