We are looking for a creative, collaborative, and highly motivated computational biologist to join our Applied Biosciences R&D team. You will work on exciting, advanced biology research projects for the U.S. Government. The candidate will join a team of about 12 people and contribute to multi-year, interdisciplinary programs that bring together teams in biology, engineering, and data science to develop and transition new biotechnology solutions in support of national security.
Some travel to RTX, BBN, teammate, or customer sites for meetings or activities may be required.
You Must Have
- A Master’s degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field obtained by start date
- Demonstrated programming experience (Linux command line, Python for biological analysis and software development)
- Experience with development infrastructure (git/version control, virtual environments such as conda or Python venv, R renv, virtual machines)
- Containerization experience (e.g., Docker, Apptainer)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
- Active security clearance
- Bioinformatics analysis experience with knowledge of common tools and workflows (genomics required; additional omics modalities desirable)
- Experience with common bioinformatics databases (NCBI, Uni Prot, PDB, etc.)
- Experience with data science techniques: data analysis, automation, visualization
- Experience using AI and/or machine learning tools to generate analytical outcomes
- Experience generating data analysis reports and communicating findings to the team

Role type:
Hybrid. The position requires a security clearance. Candidates may be asked to attend select interview steps in-person at one of our office locations. The salary range for this role is 75,800 USD – 144,200 USD. RTX is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
