Job Description

Come work for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Outposts; a highly recognized hybrid cloud offering from AWS. AWS Outposts is an on-premises version of AWS public cloud.

Our team is responsible for managing the network route that enables communication between Outpost and its associated AWS Region, performing several transformations and validations on the packets both to and from the AWS Region, setting up and managing network configuration, pushing the network configurations to other Outpost services, conducting packet inspections, and operating the logical interconnect virtual router that enables communication between Outpost and the customer on‑premise network.

We are a start‑up‑like team within a large enterprise, which allows us to take risks, experiment, flex our technical muscles, and grow in our respective careers. This creates a unique opportunity to be part of the product’s growth story. If you are interested in building and managing systems at scale, in software‑defined networking, low‑level programming, and high‑performance applications with limited resources, we invite you to join us as a Software Development Engineer.

This role includes on‑call duties that typically cover two weeks every 2–3 months. The first week is the primary on‑call period and the second week is secondary. We aim to avoid paging during the night or on weekends by ensuring our systems are fault tolerant, and when paging occurs we work collaboratively to resolve the root cause and prevent recurring incidents.

We believe good code reviews raise our code quality, grow our technical acumen, and create opportunities for knowledge sharing. We support our own code in production and ship code daily.

Amazon’s culture of inclusion is reinforced through our 14 Leadership Principles, which encourage diverse perspectives, curiosity, and earning trust.

Work/Life Balance

Our team values work‑life balance, focusing on the flow that brings energy to both professional and personal life rather than total hours. We offer flexible working hours and encourage a personal balance. This role’s on‑call responsibilities are designed to be predictable and manageable.

Mentorship & Career Growth

We dedicate ourselves to supporting new members, with a broad mix of experience levels and tenures. Senior members provide one‑on‑one mentoring and thorough, yet kind, code reviews. We aim to assign projects that help each engineer develop into a well‑rounded professional and take on more complex tasks.
