CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for Software/Web Developers within our Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting edge technology. You must have a passion for keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology advancements and leveraging your knowledge on a highly collaborative team to deliver state-of-the-art capabilities. The Software/Web Developer acts as a simple bridge between business departments and IT teams.
They assist with shadowing processes, writing simple instructions, and helping users solve basic technical issues. CGI Federal is growing its high-performance team whose members share a passion for building high-quality, scalable, advanced IT solutions in a collaborative, fast-paced, outcome-driven mission. This position is located in our Arlington office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Key Responsibilities (Entry Level)
• Coding Assistance:
Write clean, maintainable code for smaller features, website updates, or bug fixes based on established guidelines.
• Testing & Quality Assurance:
Test applications for usability and performance, ensuring new code does not break existing features.
• Debugging & Troubleshooting:
Troubleshoot basic errors and report findings to senior developers.
• Documentation:
Help maintain and update technical documentation, style guides, and project procedures.
• Collaboration & Learning:
Participate in daily team meetings (stand-ups), code reviews, and pair programming to accelerate technical growth.
Key Responsibilities (Junior Level)
• Coding:
Write clean, testable, and efficient code for both front-end (UI) and back-end (databases) systems.
• Maintenance:
Analyze production support issues, implement bug fixes, and update existing website layouts.
• Testing:
Perform unit, regression, and user-acceptance testing to ensure application stability across browsers and devices.

Collaboration:
Partner with visual designers to implement design intent and assist senior developers on larger architectural projects.
• Documentation:
Create and maintain technical documentation for the features and tools being built.
Key Responsibilities (Mid-Level)
• Application Design & Development:
Analyze business and functional requirements to design and implement robust, secure, and scalable web and mobile application features. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• System Integration:
Utilize, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs and third-party SDKs to connect front-end interfaces with back-end databases and cloud services.
• Testing & Quality Assurance:
Write and execute comprehensive unit, integration, and user-acceptance (UAT) tests to prevent code regressions and ensure intended performance.
• Troubleshooting & Debugging:
Analyze complex software problems, resolve production support issues, and provide innovative solutions.
• Leadership &
Collaboration:
Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and QA teams. Mentor junior developers, assist with code reviews, and provide time-complexity estimates for project tasks.
Key Responsibilities (Senior Level)
• System Architecture:
Design and operate resilient back-end and front-end architectures with long-term maintainability, scalability, and security as primary goals.
• Technical Leadership:
Lead structural improvements and define coding, deployment, and performance review standards for the engineering team.
• Mentorship & Culture:
Provide hands-on guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 developers, fostering a culture of collaborative problem-solving, code quality, and peer review.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Translate complex business/functional requirements into actionable technical strategies while communicating effectively with stakeholders.
• Performance Optimization:
Perform routine architectural audits to optimize web systems for maximum speed, throughput, and reliability.
• Integration & APIs:
Oversee the integration of complex data pipelines, third-party libraries, and back-end services with user-facing elements.
