POSITION TITLE:
Substitute Para Educators - high need for Para Educators in special education classrooms
LOCATION:
Arlington Public Schools
HOURLY RANGE: $24.92 per hour (based on the 2024/2025 PSE salary schedule)
On-call/as needed basis
BENEFITS:
Benefits may be available for substitute employees who work 630 hours in a school calendar year. This may include Medical, Dental, Vision, Long-term Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, Pension, VEBA, and 403(b).
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
First orientation to be held mid October - specific date to be determined. Applications received after the first orientation will be reviewed on a periodic basis and additional orientations will be scheduled as needed.
SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of certificated staff, the Para-Educator-Special Needs performs tasks related to the monitoring and supervising of students on campus during the day including assisting with instruction, one on one tutoring, classroom management, organization of instructional materials, provide support and assistance in computer laboratory, library or media centers, and assist with parental involvement activities under the direct supervision, planning and preparation of the teacher.
Understanding the value of working with children and youth with disabilities is essential in this position. A desire and ability to work with students is essential to this position.

* I acknowledge that there are no substitute positions available during Thanksgiving break, winter break, spring break, federal holidays, in-service days, and the period between the last day of student instruction for the 25/26 school year and the first day of student instruction for the 26/27 school year.

* Are you willing to submit to a criminal history background check?
