Skills on the Hill is hiring for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant job in Washington, DC. We are a leading pediatric therapy practice serving families in Washington, D.C. and Arlington, VA. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to deliver engaging, individualized therapy sessions that support children’s growth at home, in school, and in the community.
What You’ll Do- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Deliver engaging, play-based therapy sessions under OT supervision
- Support treatment goals that promote success at home, school, and in the community
- Observe, document, and communicate patient progress to supervising OTs and caregivers
- Assist with selected assessments and data collection with demonstrated competency
- Provide parent, caregiver, and teacher education under OT guidance
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, holistic care
- Maintain timely and organized documentation in compliance with company and state regulations
- Help maintain a safe, motivating, and positive therapy environment
Our COTAs support children with:
- Sensory processing and motor planning challenges
- Fine and visual motor delays
- Feeding and oral-motor difficulties
- Global developmental delays
- Learning disabilities
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- ADHD and self-regulation challenges
- Executive functioning weaknesses
- Neuromuscular or genetic conditions
- Cerebral Palsy
- Down Syndrome
Compensation: $50,000 – $65,000
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current NBCOT certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Active DC and Virginia COTA license (or eligibility to obtain)
At least 1 year of pediatric experience preferred - Motivated new graduates are encouraged to apply
- Experience supporting children with developmental delays, sensory processing differences, fine/visual motor challenges, and self-regulation difficulties preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Negative TB test
- Successful background check
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Deliver engaging, play-based therapy sessions under the supervision of a licensed OT
- Support treatment goals that help children succeed at home, school, and in the community
- Observe and document children’s progress and communicate updates to supervising OTs and caregivers
- Assist in administering selected assessments and gathering data with demonstrated competency
- Provide parent, caregiver, and teacher education under OT guidance
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure cohesive, holistic care
- Maintain timely, organized documentation in compliance with company and state regulations
- Help maintain a safe, motivating, and positive therapy environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching during treatment sessions
- Ability to lift, position, or support children during therapeutic activities
- Knowledge of evidence-based pediatric therapy practices
- Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Ability to follow established treatment plans under OT supervision - Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, EMR systems, and iPads
- Professionalism, discretion, and respect for confidentiality
- Empathy, patience, creativity, and adaptability when working with children and families
