Position Summary

In collaboration with the healthcare and administrative team and working within their scope of practice, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports behavioral health providers by providing clinical assistance, care coordination, and administrative support to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate outpatient services.

This role combines traditional medical assisting skills with behavioral‑health–specific competencies that adhere to Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma‑informed, culturally sensitive support to patients who may be anxious, distressed, or new to behavioral health care.
  • Greet patients. Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, current symptoms and medication list. Administer screening tools.
  • Stock and clean exam rooms. Assists providers with procedures as needed.
  • Maintain a smooth flow and communication between patients, providers and clinic staff.
  • Appropriately obtain and process laboratory specimens.
  • Perform CLIA waived laboratory tests and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Perform venipunctures and EKGs; administer vaccines and medication as directed.
  • Document correctly in the electronic medical record in a timely manner.
  • Assist with medical provider requests and care coordination
  • Complete and track patient referrals
  • Process prior authorization and medical records requests
  • Respond to patient questions and medication refill requests
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure equipment is operational.
  • Attend team meetings and participate in process improvements.
  • Participate in training activities to increase professional skills.
  • Perform closing duties- lock doors, empty shred bins and set security alarm.
  • Follow HIPPA and 42 CFR Part 2 privacy laws and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, routine healthcare procedures, and clinical protocols.
  • Ability to type at least 45 wpm with no errors.
  • Command of computerized word processing programs.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment including computers, photocopiers and fax machine.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism in stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees.
