POSITION TITLE:
Mechanic/Driver
Continuing position to begin August 1, 2026
POSITIONS: 8 hr/day, 5 day/wk, 260 day/yr
9:00 am - 5:30 pm
HOURLY WAGE: $38.60 - $44.07 per hour depending on prior experience (based on the 2025/2026 PSE salary schedule; 2026/2027 PSE salary schedule to be determined).
BENEFITS:
Employees anticipated to work 630 hours in a school calendar year may be eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Long-term Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, Pension, VEBA, and 403(b).
Up to 12 Sick Days, 2 Personal Days, and 13 Paid Holidays - prorated based upon start date & days worked

SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, the mechanic shall be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all school district vehicles and will keep them in a ready state of service. The Bus driver will operate, fuel, and maintain a clean school bus and may be required to load and operate other district vehicles. The employee will be required to successfully pass random drug testing as required by law and may be required to undergo a post-offer medical examination.
Conditions of Employment
* Do you possess a valid school bus driver School bus driver authorization with Washington State driver's license with CDL Class A or B, Passenger endorsement, School Bus endorsement air brake restriction lifted OR do you have the ability to obtain one within sixty (60) days of employment?
* Do you have completion of recognized apprenticeship as a heavy duty mechanic or full journeyman status as a heavy duty mechanic or minimum of five (5) years applicable work experience and employment experience as a mechanic of heavy duty vehicles?
* Are you able to frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds?
* Are you able to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds a distance of 100 feet?
* Do you have a current First Aid/CPR card and if not, are you willing to become certified within 60 days of employment?
* Are you a citizen or do you have a visa which permits you to work in the United States?
* Do you have a high school diploma or GED?
* Are you willing to be fingerprinted?
* Are you at least 21 years of age?

* Have your ever been dismissed or discharged from a job, or have you separated employment in order to avoid discipline or discharge? If the answer is yes, please explain.
* School bus drivers are subject to DOT random, pre-employment, post accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. Have you ever failed an employer mandated or DOT drug test?
* Have you intentionally and knowingly transported public school students within the State of Washington with an expired, lapsed, surrendered, or revoked authorization in a position for which authorization is required?
