Substitute Nurse

To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the District Schools.

• RN in the State of Missouri

• Graduate from an accredited nursing school.

• Currently registered in the State of Missouri.

• CPR/AED certified

Job Responsibilities:

• Conducts school health services including assisting the school doctor and in physical examinations, and tests for vision, hearing and scoliosis.
• Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students and reports to the school principal those students in compliance with health requirements.
• Administers medication and first aid as necessary per established procedures.
• Makes notification to parents of students who may be in need of additional medical and dental services.
• Participates with school staff in developing and implementing a total school health program.
• Prepares and submits in a timely manner necessary reports.
• Participates in in-service training programs.
• Requisition s supplies as needed through the Director of Nursing.
• Maintains a record of students and staff who have been seen and/or treated by school nurse.
• Advises school personnel in regard to health matters related to students in the school.
• Arranges for substitutes when nursing staff is absent.
• Schedules school doctor's visits to schools for physicals (student and employee).
• Organizes CPR classes and the distribution of flu vaccines as needed.
• Prepares communications to be sent home to parents as needed.
