Overview

Abile Group has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Software Virtualization Engineer on a 10 year contract providing User Facing and Data Center Services supporting an Intelligence Community customer. The team will support design, engineering, procurement, implementation, operations, sustainment and disposal of user facing and data center IT services on multiple networks and security domains, at multiple locations worldwide, to support the IC mission.

The right candidate will possess the skills and qualifications below and be prepared to handle responsibilities independently and professionally.

Responsibilities
  • Develop Virtualized Packages for Mission Baseline Applications. Applications will be consumed by VDI sessions and thick clients, including those with plugins and advanced graphics requirements.
  • Collaborate with application testers and mission SMEs to validate mission application behavior.
  • Incorporate required sequencing changes into the application sequencing process.
  • Identify facets of user application settings (registry, App Data, etc.) that must be persisted across sessions in a non-persistent VDI environment.
  • Identify automation opportunities for application sequencing and work with the engineering team to streamline sequencing for mission applications once established.
  • Assist the virtualization team and VDI team with application delivery infrastructure configuration as needed.
  • Improve backup/Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations.
  • Articulate knowledge, discoveries, designs, etc. clearly in written designs, test plans and test cases, implementation plans, operational guides, and training guides under project management time and cost constraints.
  • Perform work with minimal direction, exercising latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
  • Work with VMware software defined data center products and tools for troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Analyze, test, and apply regular security patches and software updates as required.
  • Analyze and apply virtualization product capabilities to changing program requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and provide training to other team members.
  • Handle incident resolution and fulfillment of software requests.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Clearance: TS/SCI
  • Degree and

    Experience:

    Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience with Systems Administration/Virtualization (Additional Education, Training, Certifications or Work Experience can be substituted).
  • 3+ years of experience with VDI technologies (VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services).
  • 2+ years of experience with Citrix Xen App or comparable application virtualization technology (Microsoft App-V, Flex App, App Volumes, etc.).
Certifications
  • Required:

    8140.01M IAT Level II
  • Desired:
    Virtualization compute environment certification (e.g., VMware Certified Associate for Data Center Virtualization – VCA-DCV)
Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of virtualization products and capabilities.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with Windows Desktop (10/11) and Server (2012+) operating systems.
  • Experience with scripting/automation tools (e.g., Power Shell) to automate tasks and manage deployments.
  • Experience with non-persistent desktop environments.
  • Experience with profile management solutions (e.g., VMware DEM, Liquid ware Labs Profile-Unity).
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Understanding of load-balancing and application delivery services.
  • Understanding of ITIL principles.
  • Ability to create architectural design documents and presentations.
  • Ability to test and apply hardware and software updates.
  • Knowledge of architectural frameworks such as TOGAF.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (Service+, Service Now, Remedy, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional travel to the customer site in St. Louis, MO.
  • Telecommunications options onsite only; work tasks require access to customer networks.
