184 days, 1.0 FTE
SALARYAnnual entry level salary placement from $60,544 to $100,773 for a full time position; salary prorated based on start date, FTE, and prior experience and semester units above Bachelor's degree.

Instructional: Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness based on the CA Physical Education content standards, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual or team sports. Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning and implementing a balanced program. Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies. Provides safety instruction and checks equipment and field areas. Evaluates each student's growth in physical skills and knowledge.
Manages and maintains control of storage and use of school property. Motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness. Develops students' strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in activities and sports. Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified in state laws, regulations and district policies. Develops lesson plans and identifies instructional materials. Provides individualized and small group instruction as necessary.
Determines pace and explains material to students and parents. Differentiates instruction for students based on need. Establishes and maintains behavior standards in the classroom.
Student Management: Maximizes opportunities for student success, creates a supportive classroom environment, establishes discipline policy, and provides additional instruction when needed.
Professional: Maintains positive staff relations, cooperates with other staff to identify student needs and develop assessments, demonstrates regular and timely attendance, participates in in-service activities, meets deadlines, follows district and schools’ policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPhysical:
- Stand and sit for extended periods.
- Read printed matter with or without vision aids.
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels.
- Speak English clearly.
- Move throughout building and school grounds as needed; lift up to 50 pounds to waist height and 25 pounds to shoulder height.

This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter. The Physical Education Teacher shall report in accordance with California state regulations any observed or suspected child or elder/dependent abuse or neglect to appropriate agencies.
CANDIDATE SELECTIONCandidate selected will be required to present prior to first day of employment: social security card, proof of tuberculin test, pass state and federal fingerprint clearance, complete all pre-employment training including Child Abuse Reporting and Sexual Harassment/Abusive Conduct.
