HF Sinclair in Artesia, NM is seeking a PSM Engineer. Depending on the candidate’s experience, this role will steward the PSM program for the site via day-to-day support for operating units. Drive process safety excellence working in conjunction with other disciplines/teams ure compliance with local, state and federal requirements with respect to elements of Process Safety Management.
Job Duties- Interface with other plant functions including Operations, Environment, Health and Safety, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability
- Work will require working independently as well as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Support execution of Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-startup safety review (PSSR) processes in process units
- Provide guidance to site personnel in execution of OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management (RMP) programs.
- Analyzes trends from Process Safety Events and provide recommendations for preventative actions
- Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis reviews for MOC
- Conduct investigations for incidents to identify root cause
- Conduct audits for refinery building facility sitting compliance
- Prepares documentation and participates in process safety audits/assessments
- Participates in turnaround process safety preparation and execution activities
- Collaborate with other departments to assure PSM compliance during TA and prior to startup
- Participate in team roster coverage for after hours and weekend on call
- Participate in corporate forums for development of best practice standards
- Network with peers externally including attending industry conferences
- Regularly communicate with the department manager and other leaders to meet site goals and objectives

Experience
A minimum of 2 to 10 years process safety management experience in petroleum refining, pipelines, terminals and/or oil & gas industry is required. Prior experience working in a petroleum refinery in a process safety role is a pluse. Level will be commensurate with the candidates knowlege, skills and abilities.
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, or equivalent related work experience and appropriate technical skills in lieu of a degree, is required.
Preferred Education:
A Bachelors Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field, is preferred.
Required SkillsAbility to lead and direct the work of others. Ability to provide leadership and direction and set expectations for a wide group of employees without direct line reporting. Ability to influence people outside of direct reporting structure. Strong interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements. Conversant with process safety hazzard analysis software and PHA methodologies.…
