Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the 261-day Year Round Accounting/Executive Secretary Salary Schedule and based on education and experience. Salary Range $/hour

Purpose of the JobThe Payroll/Benefits Specialist is responsible for performing critical accounting applications for the District, including the Charter School. The Payroll / Benefits Specialist shall be under the direct supervision of the Lead Benefits and Payroll Specialist and Accounting Manager. They shall be responsible for all payroll record keeping of the district and other duties as directed by the Director of Business Services / CFO.
Minimum Requirements- Education:
High School Diploma. Post-Secondary Accounting or equivalent experience preferred. - Experience:
Bookkeeping, payroll, accounting experience preferred. - Licenses/Certificates:
Colorado Driver License preferred. - Other:
Must qualify for fidelity bonding requirements of the district.
- Experience with computerized double-entry bookkeeping systems for small to medium-sized entities.
- Direct experience including payroll, benefits administration, general accounting, and related clerical duties.
- Experience processing court orders, garnishments, employee status research, and the distribution of third-party checks.
- Adeptness in operating personal computers, Microsoft Word, and Excel, with a strong preference for familiarity with accounting software, specifically Infinite Visions.
- Proficiency in data entry, typing, ten-key/calculator operation, and modern office practices to perform rapid mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
- Experience with Workers' Compensation claim reporting and processing is helpful.
- Notary Public certification is preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, methods, practices, and modern techniques for recording and interpreting financial and statistical data.
- General knowledge of payroll laws, auditing principles, School Board Policies, Fair Labor Standards (FLSA), and Federal Income Tax laws.
- Ability to perform detailed work involving written or numerical data, including posting, calculating, auditing, and verifying data accuracy.
- Ability to apply accounting principles to the maintenance of fiscal records, the preparation of fiscal reports, and the processing of data into specified formats.
- Ability to analyze and resolve various payroll discrepancies.
- Ability to work in harmony and maintain positive, professional working relationships with peers, staff, departmental personnel, and the public both in person and over the telephone.
- Demonstrated reliability in all work situations, comprehensive knowledge of job duties, and a consistent focus on staying on task to produce high-quality work.
- Maintenance of a neat, professional personal appearance and a clean, professional work area.
- Ability to model and uphold the District’s Mission and Belief Statements.
- Must qualify for the fidelity bonding requirements of the district.
- Must pass a criminal background check as a condition of hire.
- Recording and accruals of all sick leave, vacation, personal leave and annual leave uses.
- Processing of employee medical, dental, vision, and life benefits.
- Processing of employee PERA and other benefits.
