The Environmental Health Technician is responsible for clerical, programmatic and customer support and program coordination for the assigned unit/program area. The role includes providing information about program services, scheduling appointments, maintaining inventories of supplies and materials, processing documents, entering and maintaining data in electronic systems, coordinating distribution of supplies, answering routine program‑specific questions, and directing clients to subject matter experts.
- Providing clerical, administrative, and customer service support to assigned environmental health programs.
- Serving as a point of contact for the public, visitors, and internal staff by answering routine program‑related questions and referring non‑routine inquiries to appropriate staff.
- Answering and routing phone calls, emails, and visitors; scheduling appointments and coordinating routine program activities.
- Processing, entering, and maintaining accurate records, forms, and data in electronic and secure systems.
- Preparing documentation for routine reports, tracking needs, and open records requests.
- Maintaining organized files and inventories of supplies and materials.
- Supporting outreach and awareness activities by preparing materials and assisting with logistics.
- Coordinating with County staff and external partners as needed.
- Participating in meetings, trainings, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Ensuring all assigned work complies with established procedures, confidentiality requirements, and applicable laws and policies.
- Performing drinking water and wastewater testing procedures while adhering to quality control guidelines and recording accurate data in laboratory logs and electronic systems.
- Participates in meetings of the assigned unit/program including one‑on‑ones, staff huddles, unit/division meetings, department All Staff meetings, and other meetings and trainings as required.
- Maintains general awareness of available public health and community services and provides approved resources, referrals, and basic navigation assistance to public health programs and external agencies as directed.
- Maintains accurate and well‑organized program records and data in accordance with established procedures and protocols and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of sensitive and protected public health information and records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and County policies.
