Position: ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN with Security Clearance
Duties
* Plans, coordinates, evaluates, and recommends for approval all 302 Air lift Wing requests for new construction, renovation, maintenance, and improvements of real property facilities including HVAC, Electrical and Utility systems.
* Coordinates projects with engineers, architects, and staff in a variety of disciplines and/or working groups.
* Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering/architectural authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed facility programs/projects.
* Assures that plans are complete, comprehensive, and meet user and code requirements by implementing and evaluating programs to manage safety risks, fire safety risks, and facility response to emergencies as well as to manage risks to personnel and property. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
* The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. Must possess an appropriate and valid driver's license.
* This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
* A Secret Clearance is a condition for employment. The employee will be required to maintain a Secret security clearance.
* Serves "on call" and may be required to be available after duty hours when problems arise. The incumbent is subject to call seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* This position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue
* uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions, IAW, DoDI 3020-42,
* Defense Continuity Programs. Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.
* A pre-employment physical may be required Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-10, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience in a wide range of rules or operations for projects involving specialized or complicated procedures requiring substantial training or experience in methods and practices of drafting techniques sufficient to produce engineering drawings involving original, novel, and/or complex designs;

knowledge of interpreting drawings, plans and specifications and take action or make recommendations based on preliminary data interpretation or analysis; knowledge of automated systems to create and maintain technical drawings, schematics, project plans, reports, and building/equipment inventory records; knowledge of standard mathematical formulas to make computations; identify and correct deficiencies; and prepare and present reports and documentation requiring a high degree of precision and using a variety of projection techniques to portray unusual or complex designs;

knowledge of fire protection and electrical codes and standards, fire protection concepts, containment and smoke removal, automatic sprinkler systems, water supply sources, fire evacuation and shelter operations. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-10 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
