Process Documentation Consultant
Location: Hybrid (3–4 days onsite) — Denver Metro area
Type: Temporary Assignment (through end of 2026, current plan)
Compensation: $40–$55/hour (DOE)
Start Date: ASAP
We are recruiting for a client in the Automation Machinery Manufacturing equipment industry who's in need of a Process Documentation Consultant to join their team on a temporary basis through the remainder of 2026. This is a hands‑on, high‑visibility role reporting directly to the CEO, ideal for a consultant who thrives on bringing structure, clarity, and repeatable process to a growing organization.
PositionSummary
The Process Documentation Consultant will partner closely with executive leadership and cross‑functional teams to identify, document, and standardize core business processes. This role is critical to helping the organization scale efficiently by capturing institutional knowledge, reducing operational risk, and creating documentation that supports training, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with the CEO and department leaders to identify processes in need of documentation
- Conduct interviews and job shadowing with subject matter experts across departments to capture current‑state workflows
- Develop clear, standardized process documentation (SOPs, workflow diagrams, process maps, work instructions)
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and inconsistencies in existing processes
- Create a scalable documentation framework/template that can be maintained after the engagement ends
- Organize and centralize documentation for easy access and future updates
- Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership
- Collaborate with onsite teams 3–4 days per week to ensure accuracy and buy‑in
- Proven experience in process documentation, business process improvement, or operations consulting
- Strong ability to translate complex workflows into clear, concise documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment
- Comfortable interviewing stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership
- Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite)
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or automotive‑adjacent environments
- Background in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Prior consulting or contract‑based project experience
- Experience building documentation frameworks from scratch (not just updating existing ones)
This is a hybrid role requiring 3–4 days onsite per week, with the remainder remote.
