Overview

Engineering a world of possibilities. Mines Office of Procurement and Contract Services is seeking a Procurement Agent who will be responsible for the procurement and contracting of materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the Mines community. This role serves a key resource to faculty, staff, and campus administrators.

Primary Responsibilities
  • General Procurement Duties: maintain the integrity of the public procurement process; serve as primary procurement contact; manage and execute university purchase requests including intake, pre‑approval routing, vendor verification, negotiation, and processing.
  • Competitive Solicitations: develop, issue, and manage solicitations (RFP, bid, sole source, documented quotes); draft scope of work; prepare documentation; conduct pre‑bid meetings and walk‑through events.
  • Contract Review and Management: draft, review, negotiate, and administer contracts of low to high complexity; assess risk; create contract records in the database.
  • Systems and Reporting: utilize Workday, the contracts database, Microsoft Office, and other procurement tools; run procurement reports and assist end‑of‑fiscal‑year reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with two years of procurement experience, or six years of procurement experience.
  • Proven track record in professional environments with self‑motivation and multitasking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, databases, presentation software, and enterprise financial systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of public procurement theories, principles, and best practices.
  • Strong research and problem‑solving abilities with independent judgment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and the ability to work fairly and equitably within a diverse community.
  • Maintains a high sense of personal and professional ethics and integrity.
  • Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines and to seek assistance when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Procurement experience in higher education, K‑12 education, or a public institution.
  • Familiarity with Workday.
  • Excellent training skills.
  • Institutional knowledge of Mines including policy, processes, departmental needs and contracts.
  • Nationally recognized procurement certifications such as CPPB, NIGP‑CPP, or ability to obtain certification.
Salary and Benefits

Rate of $60,000.00 – $62,200.00 per year.
