THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (6 MONTHS OR LESS) - PAYING $19.50 - $20.50 PER HOUR, D.O.E.

EMPLOYMENT STARTS July 2026 THROUGH December 2026. Potential to extend up to March 31, 2027.

ABOUT THE YOUTH INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (YIP)
CPW’s Youth Internship Program (YIP) employs and develops the next generation of Natural Resource Professionals and recruits new, diverse talent into the CPW workforce. We accept people of all ages who are in the early stages of their career path or career transition.
A Focus on Career Exploration
YIP is unique in that it’s not just a job… It is designed for career exploration, mentorship, and skills development. While you’ll have some primary job responsibilities, we want you to go out and explore! Depending on your interests this might include shadowing biologists, going on ride-along with Park Rangers and Wildlife Officers, visiting fish
hatcheries, helping at education and outreach events, assisting with trail or restoration projects, and more. This is a great opportunity for someone who knows they are
interested in a Natural Resources career but want to learn more about different options.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
This position will support the Statewide Hunter Outreach and Hunter Education programs through preparing and maintaining equipment, gear, and supplies for classes, seminars, clinics, and mentored hunts; providing administrative assistance as needed by computer or phone, and depending on the intern’s skills and abilities, teach hunting related topics in Hunter outreach and Hunter Education programs.

Hunter Outreach Program:

  • Prepare, maintain, and fix various equipment and gear to support seminars, clinics, shooting clinics, and mentored hunts. The program utilizes a work truck and several trailers. Gear and equipment are stored in various containers and rooms. Equipment includes trailers, tents, processing supplies, camping equipment, hunting equipment, firearms, and bows.

  • Provide administrative support to the program by computer and phone. This support will include monitoring the hunter outreach email, an event registration program, an Instagram site, and reaching out by phone as needed.

  • Support educational outreach programs as needed and based on hunting experience.

Hunter Education Program:

  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment used in Hunter Education classes. This will include fulfilling order requests for staff and volunteer teaching supplies.

  • Provide administrative support on a rotating basis to monitor the Hunter Education phone line andemail.

  • Support Hunter Education classes, instructor training, and instructor workshops based on hunting experience.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Good attention to detail
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications.
  • Self-motivated and able to balance multiple responsibilities while working independently
  • Willingness to engage with people with diverse racial, ethnic, gender identity, ability, political, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Passion for natural resources, conservation, the environment, equity in the outdoors, and/or similar areas.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team.
  • Able to lift at least ~50 pounds.
  • Interest in outdoor recreation and/or natural resources preferred…
