Head Start is a no cost, all-inclusive, child-focused and family-centered preschool program for children ages 3-5, offering individualized services in education, early childhood development, medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, family support, and parent education. We strive to provide equitable and inclusive services and support to the diverse community we serve.
The Head Start Teacher Associate will support the Lead Teacher in a classroom of 15-20 children, implementing curriculum, and maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance standards including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health and mental health.
Schedule:
Ten-month working position from August through May (stretch) paid over twelve months.
Compensation: $19.20 - $20.65 USD per hour, determined by education, experience, and skills.
Bilingual Skillset:
Staff fluent in a language other than English may be eligible for additional compensation.
- Implement Creative Curriculum and develop lesson plans
- Administer developmental, social, and emotional screenings and conduct observations
- Actively supervise children and teach developmentally appropriate practices using trauma-informed care
- Ensure compliance with Head Start performance standards (education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health, mental health)
- Partner with a multidisciplinary team (mental health specialists, special education professionals, family support workers) to provide best service for families
- Collaborate with peers to share experiences and find solutions
- Provide home language support to all English language learners
- Abide by Colorado Adult and Child Food Program Guidelines for family style dining
- Collaborate with the Special Education (SPED) team to support children with IEPs and track progress
- Create MTSS goals for children with suspected developmental delay and collect necessary data for SPED referrals
- Attend IEP meetings in the absence of the Lead Teacher
- Build family engagement and develop relationships through ongoing interactions
- Assist Lead Teacher with family visits and conferences, and conduct family visits in absence of Lead Teacher
- Assist with data collection for child outcomes and developmental goal setting
- Assist with raising match funds by supporting families in tracking learning opportunities at home
- Identify families that could benefit from partnering with Jeffco Prosperity Partners
- Participate in professional and educational development (annual and monthly)
- Work with supervisor to progress toward career goals and attend coaching sessions
- Maintain credential in Colorado Shines Professional Development Information System (PDIS)
- Perform other duties as assigned
