Secondary Agriculture Education Teacher
Custer County School District C-1 is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Secondary Agricultural Education Teacher to lead a dynamic Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in agricultural sciences while fostering leadership, career readiness, and hands-on learning experiences for students in grades 9-12.
The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging, real-world applications of agriculture, integrate classroom and laboratory instruction, and support student involvement in FFA and supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs).
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in agricultural education courses aligned with agricultural education standards
- Develop and manage a comprehensive agricultural education program including classroom/lab instruction, FFA chapter advising, and SAE supervision
- Serve as an advisor for the local FFA chapter, including organizing meetings, leadership development, competitions, and community service activities
- Supervise and evaluate student Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs)
- Maintain and manage agricultural facilities such as the classroom and shop space
- Maintain and manage our agricultural education/FFA ranch which includes 12 cow/calf pairs
- Integrate employability skills, career exploration, and industry partnerships into instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and community stakeholders to support student success and program growth
- Maintain accurate records for student progress, program compliance, and CTE reporting requirements
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students
- Participate in professional development and stay current with industry trends and CTE best practices
- Attend Fair Board Meeting as the FFA Advisor
- Be present at and help organize the County Fair in July
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education, Agriculture, or related field
- Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement in Agricultural Education or ability to obtain
- Authorization to teach Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses in Colorado (or willingness to obtain CTE credential)
- Knowledge of agricultural industry practices and emerging trends
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Experience with or willingness to lead FFA and SAE programs
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
