The Program Manager works across two Clubs to ensure youth receive consistently high-quality, engaging, and outcomes-driven programming. This role splits time between two assigned Clubs (approximately 50% at each site over a two-week cycle) and uses BGCMD program planning tools and BGCA youth development best practices to design and coordinate a balanced mix of academic support, wellness, enrichment, and life and workforce skills programming.
When the Program Manager is on site, they will be expected to deliver direct services to youth and are considered to be in ratio in terms of coverage. Additionally, the Program Manager equips staff with the curriculum, resources, and support necessary to deliver excellent programming every day and partners with Club Directors, families, community partners, and Program Support Center teams to uphold a safe, inclusive, and inspiring Club Experiences across two sites that are rooted in BGCA’s Five Key Elements for Positive Youth Development.
Responsibilities Youth Program Planning (35%)
- Use the Program Map tool to centralize and standardize programming across Club’s youth programs, ensure programs drive Program Outcomes, meet Program Requirements, and achieve Club Program Standards.
- Utilize Program Support Center (PSC) and BGCA resources to identify curriculum and other resources to be used in each of the Club’s programs.
- Collaborate with Club Director (CD) to ensure program schedule consistently engages all members in a mix of academic support, physical and mental health & wellness, enrichment, and life and work skills.
- Collaborate with program staff to integrate centrally delivered programs into the Club’s Program Map (Healthy Lifestyles, Athletics, Mental Health, events, and specialized programming that is run by partner organizations).
- Collaborate with CD, YDSs, and PSC staff as relevant to plan transportation for programming taking place off-site, and transport youth as needed according to BGCMD operating procedures. Provide ongoing training to YDSs in the use of Program Maps, Program Requirements, Club Program Standards, and curriculum and other resources.
- Ensure that YDSs have all resources (Program Maps, curriculum, activity plans, supplies) to implement programs with youth including purchasing.
- Implement BGCMD program processes, stay informed of BGCMD program expectations, and actively utilize program resources provided by PSC.
- Consistently observe programs in action and provide timely feedback and support to YDSs.
- Provide YDSs with ongoing training and coaching to ensure fidelity of program implementation and adherence to program quality standards.
- Support CDs with program assessment (National Youth Outcomes Initiative, BGCMD Program Survey, Club Program Standards Assessment, Pulse Checks) and implementation of data-driven actions for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with CDs, YDSs, and PSC staff to leverage successes and solve areas of concern.
- Manage YDSs to implement data collection processes that track program participation.
- Support CDs to report on programs funded by grants.
- Support CDs in keeping staff in ratio by personally delivering and facilitating programming.
- Develop strong relationships with members, provide mentorship and guidance that supports meaningful engagement in programs.
- Support CD and PSC staff with programmatic community partner relationships and engagement opportunities.
- Collaborate with CD to plan and deliver family/community engagement programming.
