Compensation & Benefits

Proposed hiring rate of $21.00 to $27.00+, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience. Seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.

Job Summary

We are looking for PSIA level 1+2+3 Ski instructors! Seasonal positions to begin in December and end mid-April. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Must have at least one season of teaching experience. The minimum amount of days is subject to change. Looking for individuals who demonstrate an enthusiasm for skiing and enjoy educating all ages and ability levels.

This position will be primarily working with our youth students; ages 3-17 years.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the best possible experience for the Copper Mountain guest, working on an individual basis and as part of the overall resort mission.
  • Lead group classes while focusing on individual engagement and progression.
  • Instill confidence in teaching skiing ability to guests.
  • Provide an unsurpassed mountain vacation experience every day.
  • Develop rapport with students quickly, learning names and welcoming new students with warmth.
  • Maintain a serious focus on safety and student whereabouts; weave safety culture into teaching.
  • Identify different learning styles among students and effectively demonstrate teaching styles to reflect them.
  • Understand beginner ski progressions for different age levels and demonstrate them to the class.
  • Identify ability level in students and split them into groups by ability level when needed.
  • Engage the class 100% of the time while focusing on individual and unique student needs.
  • Adapt lesson plans as needed and make course changes without drama.
  • Model Copper Mountain Resort’s values, philosophy, and mission statements and inspire guests.
  • Act as a team member, cooperating with all employees, including fellow SRS instructors, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies while maintaining composure.
  • Manage personal stress levels and maintain work‑life balance.
  • When working with children: supervise children in class, assist at lunch and snack times, ensure return of children to identified guardians.
  • Assist in operational responsibilities of Ski & Ride programs, including registration, equipment fitting, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness.
  • Follow Copper Mountain Resort’s Standards of Business Conduct and policies.
  • Assist other departments as needed, including Events/Competitions and Lift Operations.
  • Adapt to new responsibilities as the POWDR-Copper evolves; remain flexible.
  • Uphold professional image, exceed guest expectations, and create lasting memories.

Basic Requirements
  • Good physical condition; able to stand for entire shift.
  • Work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment.
  • Be outside for long periods in all weather conditions.
  • Lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Criminal background check after position acceptance.
  • Fluent in English (sight, speech, hearing sufficient).
  • Minimum PSIA Level 1 or international equivalent.
  • Own ski equipment.
  • At least 18 years old.
Preferred Experience & Special Skills
  • Minimum 2 years’ instructing experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to work any hours of the day, any days of the week including holidays and weekends.
