Part Time Employee
Approximately 10 hours per week
Pay: $28/hr

Position Overview

Reporting to the Programming & Education Manager, this position will work collaboratively with Series Fest staff to support the organization, communication, and execution of all education programming , particularly our youth film education program, the Mobile Cinema Lab.

The Series Fest Mobile Cinema Lab is a traveling program that brings video production and storyteller education into schools and community sites across Colorado and nationwide. The program features up-to-date film and audio equipment and instruction by professional filmmakers. We have a fully developed curriculum that guides students through writing, production, post-production, and more. Series Fest strives to inspire and celebrate the voice of every student and we believe it is our mission to break down barriers that limit access for students in our community.

Other tentpole education initiatives the candidate will support in outreach efforts for High School Day, Summer Intensive, and Collegiate Fellows.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, media literacy, and working with young people, and be comfortable working both collaboratively and independently.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position; periodic evening or weekend work is required.

In your role, you will be responsible for, among other duties:
  • Coordinate logistics and administrative details for all education initiatives, including outreach, onboarding, scheduling, internships and hiring
  • Maintain strong cooperative relationships with administrators, districts, and schools as point of contact for education-related communications
  • Attend and coordinate Mobile Cinema Lab community screenings
  • Collaborate with Programming & Education Manager to facilitate Community Education offerings
  • Collaborate with Programming & Education Manager and Contract Educators on curriculum, particularly adaptation and accommodation for diverse constituents
  • Train and onboard new contract educators
  • Create program specific outlines
  • Manage the billing process for contract educators
  • Manage and execute logistics of transporting gear of Education programs, including transporting gear to/from program sites and Series Fest storage unit
  • Maintain and inventory gear
  • Occasionally facilitate post-screening discussions for a variety of age levels and subject areas
  • Substitute into programs as needed
  • Represent the Series Fest Mobile Cinema Lab at off-site conferences, booths, and events
  • Gather, evaluate, and implement feedback on education programs
  • Maintain archives for education meetings and materials, including taking notes, organizing databases and program project materials, and streamlining document-sharing across departments
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Time Commitment
  • 10 hours per week with 4 hours in person at the Series Fest office on Mondays
  • Flexibility for additional hours during festival and event heavy weeks
Required Qualifications
  • Must own and legally operate a reliable vehicle
  • Strong tech skills in standard office software, e.g. Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva
  • Ability to carry out projects independently, take initiative, and collaborate, managing multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Comfortable with large groups, public speaking, and flexibility in response to change
  • Comfortable working with kids (12-19 years of age) empathetically to adapt to each student’s needs
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Appreciation for Series Fest’s mission to “inspire, educate, and connect a worldwide community of creators at the forefront of episodic storytelling”
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Airtable
  • Prior experience in education (grades 6-12) or education/public programs at a nonprofit, museum, university, or cultural institution
