Job Overview

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for maintaining a high standard of professional customer support. In this role, the Field Service Engineer will act as the face for the company, ensuring that customer needs are met in a timely and efficient manner. The role is located predominantly in the CO area.

Job Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, validate, and repair Perkin Elmer and/or multivendor instrumentation at customer sites with best‑in‑class service.
  • Drive toward zero service recalls and complete assigned preventive maintenance calls within prescribed time frames and performance standards.
  • Provide scheduled preventive maintenance for contract customers, remedial maintenance for non‑contract customers billed hourly, and all warranty services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to the installation, warranty, and service contract provisions to provide accurate billing information to customers.
  • Provide appropriate referrals to other employees for specific questions or product information.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date electronic and repair documentation for dispatch, inventory, and service support functions.
  • Perform timely uploads and downloads of required data to ensure integrity of the service system.
  • Accountable for assigned company assets, including computers, tools, test equipment, telecommunication equipment, personal service parts inventory, etc.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply and maintain appropriate records.
  • Develop technical and soft skills to enhance Perkin Elmer’s value proposition to the customer.
  • Seek higher level certification through company‑sponsored training and development initiatives.
  • Complete all administrative tasks, including time reporting, assigned training, and compliance in health, safety, security, environmental, and operational aspects.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions, read technical bulletins and service manuals, work under time constraints, maintain alertness and concentration, work safely with potential electrical, chemical, radiologic, and biologic hazards using universal precautions.
Basic Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field and at least 2 years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and providing qualification services in a laboratory setting, OR associate degree in the same fields and at least 4 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Microsoft 365.
  • Detailed knowledge of analytical equipment, laboratory environment, and/or instrument control software.
  • Ability to travel by air, vehicle, or other means as business requires; vary depending on territory.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Vendor‑issued certification on relevant laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices defined by the company and/or customer’s site safety code.
Working Environment

Must be able to work in a laboratory or controlled environment requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses). Job pace may be fast and completion demands may be high. Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time, occasionally move between labs and other areas, and handle lifting up to 25 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds).

Vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment required. May operate hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. May need medical clearance, respiratory protection training, and fit testing to wear a respirator.

Compensation

The annual compensation range for this full‑time position is $58,760.00 to $87,360.00. Base pay will be determined by internal equity, work location, and individual qualifications such as job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
