Client is a financial services company seeking a Firewall Analyst to join the team. This is a contract to hire position. The role is remote with a hybrid option (2x per week in Lakewood, CO). Candidates must reside in the state of Colorado to be considered for the role.
Base pay range
$49.00/hr - $62.00/hr
Position Summary
Responsibilities include evaluation, design, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of enterprise-level next-generation firewall technologies (Cisco ASA, Firepower, IPS, VPN) in a 24x7 enterprise environment. Participate in technical research, documentation and projects with a primary focus on Data Center, Cloud, Campus, and Branch network security. Ability to participate in after-hours on-call work as required.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical knowledge in the administration and implementation of enterprise-level firewall, intrusion prevention solutions, and VPNs, with specialization in Cisco ASA and Firepower.
- Maintain an understanding of network infrastructure including Cloud, Data Center, Campus, Wireless (WLAN) and WAN.
- Work on high-complexity projects involving network segmentation, intrusion detection and prevention, configuration and optimization.
- Regularly audit firewall configurations across Data Center, Campus, Wireless and WAN segments.
- Support implementation projects; assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating aspects of the project.
- Establish, maintain, and troubleshoot VPN connections to 3rd party entities. Provide escalation support for firewall configuration and troubleshooting with Branch WAN and Campus networks; guide network admins in problem resolution.
- Provide input to Management to keep projects on schedule.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Understand and comply with the Security in the Workplace policy.
Position Requirements
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- A combination of post-high school education, job-related certification and related experience equivalent to 5 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other technical field.
- Experience in administering enterprise-level next-generation Firepower firewall technology in a medium to large organization.
Desired Skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities; able to balance multiple projects and meet objectives.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Solid foundation in TCP/IP, OSI, routing, VLANs, QoS, capacity management.
- Knowledge of layer 2 and 3 technologies with Cisco devices (routers, switches, firewalls, WAAS, load balancers).
- Familiarity with routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
- Working knowledge of VoIP, SIP and voice gateways.
- Working knowledge of WLAN routing, switching, packet analysis and wireless connectivity.
- Working knowledge of Contact Center technologies, including queues, scripting, call recording, WFM and reporting.
- Ability to administer and troubleshoot WAN, MPLS, SIP, internet connections from T1 to 10 Gb, and to implement security measures on network devices.
- General understanding of virtual servers, operating systems, encryption technologies, web services and database systems.
