About the RoleWe’re seeking an experienced Engineering Director (Engineering Manager) to lead multi‑disciplinary teams across mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and software engineering. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with hands‑on people leadership, excels at cross‑functional coordination, and delivers integrated, complex systems from concept through industrialization and lifecycle support. You must possess a proven track record in building and scaling engineering teams, driving collaboration across disciplines to deliver integrated, high‑quality, and cost‑effective capital equipment solutions that meet business objectives and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a diverse team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Develop and implement cross‑training programs to build team versatility and knowledge sharing.
- Provide strategic direction and ensure alignment of engineering activities with organizational goals.
- Drive engineering initiatives aligned with business objectives, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate design efforts across mechanical, electrical, and software domains for seamless system integration.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional and international teams to identify and execute strategic projects.
- Oversee development of embedded controls software and ensure alignment with mechanical and electrical system requirements.
- Guide mechanical and electrical design activities to meet performance, safety, and compliance standards.
- Champion design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) and reliability across all engineering disciplines.
- Ensure system‑level performance optimization through effective integration of hardware and software components.
- Audit, revise, and establish engineering processes and work instructions for efficiency and quality.
- Partner with production, operations, and quality teams to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
- Mechanical & Hydraulics: Direct CAD workflows, tolerance analysis, materials selection, fluid power design (pumps, valves, actuators), circuit design, contamination control, and safety systems.
- Electronics: Oversee PCB design/DFM, EMC/EMI compliance, power electronics, sensors/actuators, and embedded hardware.
- Software/Controls: Guide embedded systems design, C/C++ development, and communication protocols.
- Systems Engineering: Oversee requirements management, interface control documents, configuration, and change management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software Engineering, or a related technical field required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum 5 years of leadership experience directly managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- 6+ years of engineering experience in heavy manufacturing or product development environments.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.
- Strong active listening and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
- Mechanical: Proficiency in solid modeling (Solid Works or equivalent) and rigorous design‑for‑manufacturing principles.
- Electrical: Experience with industrial panel design, NEC knowledge, and UL/ETL compliance frameworks.
- Software: Familiarity with embedded systems, C programming, and real‑time OS (RTOS).
- Strong project management skills with experience overseeing complex, multi‑disciplinary capital equipment projects.
- Lead the planning and execution of engineering initiatives from initial concept to commercial launch.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Apply structured methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile, Stage‑Gate) to ensure delivery on time and on budget.
