As a Mechanical Systems Engineer you will work with business development and program management teams to shape multiple satellite missions simultaneously, each with a unique multi‑payload configuration. You will coordinate across program management, systems engineering, discipline engineering, and AI/T teams, ensuring seamless collaboration.
Mission Objectives- Technical lead for mechanical system design and subsystem procurement.
- Create and maintain CAD models in collaboration with internal teams and customers to conduct mechanical layout.
- Perform system optimization trades, analyze system performance, and maintain technical budgets.
- Oversee spacecraft‑level structural and thermal analysis.
- Engage closely with internal teams and customers to craft and manage system specifications and verification techniques, ensuring alignment with ambiguous customer requirements.
- Provide support to program management and product management, serving as a liaison with customers to ensure smooth program execution.
- Conduct inspections and reviews of engineering documents and hardware.
- Extend expertise to support test planning and actively participate in the integration and test campaigns at our spacecraft manufacturer’s site, ensuring adherence to rigorous quality standards.
- Active Top Secret clearance is required, and the ability to obtain Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a DoD or Intelligence Community Top Secret background investigation with at least 3 years of eligibility remaining or CE status; and SCI eligibility with current experience in SCI programs and/or Special Access Programs.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Experience delivering a spacecraft to orbit and/or space‑qualified hardware to a customer.
- 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer with detailed knowledge of spacecraft structures.
- Comprehensive system‑level knowledge and experience in mechanical subsystems.
- Detailed understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Proficiency with Solid Works or similar CAD software.
- Pragmatic vibration testing experience (pre‑test inputs, test oversight, data reduction, report generation).
- Ability to act as the face of technical requirements and work with a team to deliver quality hardware.
