Position Summary

The Electromechanical Calibration Technician independently performs complex calibration, testing, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, validation, and maintenance activities on electrical, electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical equipment used in manufacturing, laboratory, production, and quality environments. Working with minimal supervision, this position ensures the accuracy, reliability, traceability, and compliance of instrumentation, test equipment, production systems, and finished products through the application of established metrology principles, calibration procedures, and regulatory standards.
The technician utilizes precision measurement equipment, calibration standards, diagnostic tools, and computerized systems to perform calibrations, evaluate equipment performance, document results, and maintain compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. This position serves as a technical resource for troubleshooting equipment failures, conducting root cause investigations, supporting process improvements, and collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and external service providers to ensure operational excellence and product quality.

Responsibilities

Calibration and Metrology

  • Perform electrical, electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical calibrations on production, laboratory, validation, and test equipment in accordance with approved procedures and industry standards.
  • Verify accuracy, precision, repeatability, and performance of instrumentation using traceable calibration standards and measurement systems.
  • Evaluate calibration data, document results, determine equipment conformance, and initiate corrective actions for out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Maintain calibration schedules and equipment records utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), ERP systems, calibration databases, or electronic quality systems.
  • Support measurement system analysis (MSA), gauge repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R), and measurement uncertainty assessments where applicable.
  • Coordinate calibration activities with accredited external calibration laboratories and equipment manufacturers.

Testing and Troubleshooting

  • Utilize digital multimeters (DMM/DVM), oscilloscopes, power analyzers, signal generators, frequency counters, pressure calibrators, temperature standards, environmental chambers, and other diagnostic equipment to analyze system performance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and validate failures involving electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems.
  • Investigate equipment malfunctions and production issues using systematic troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to prevent recurrence.
  • Support equipment qualification, commissioning, verification, and validation activities.

Manufacturing and Technical Support

  • Assemble, wire, terminate, test, and verify electrical and electromechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, harnesses, and subassemblies according to engineering specifications and work instructions.
  • Interpret and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, component specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Construct, modify, repair, and maintain test fixtures, calibration equipment, production tooling, and prototype systems.
  • Support engineering change notices (ECNs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and implementation of design or process modifications.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, engineering, quality, and service personnel.
Quality and Compliance
  • Ensure calibration and testing activities comply with company quality systems and applicable industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records, maintenance histories, test reports, deviation reports, and validation documentation.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, regulatory inspections, and quality investigations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, reliability, productivity, and process efficiency.
  • Assist in the development and revision of calibration procedures, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and equipment maintenance programs.
Training and Collaboration
