Night Auditor is responsible for maximizing revenue and creating value through excellent customer service, effective reservation sales, guest account management, and assistance throughout the guest experience, including check‑in, check‑out, and problem resolution.

This position is an overnight shift, working either 10 pm–6 am or 11 pm–7 am.

Responsibilities
  • Work with and understand financial information and data, performing basic arithmetic functions.
  • Willing to cross‑train in other accounting or hotel‑related areas.
  • Perform guest services functions (e.g., check guests in/out, take reservations, handle up‑calls).
  • Audit and reconcile financial and statistical reports.
  • Prepare and distribute daily reports such as Daily Operating Report, Discount Programs, Tax Reports, and month‑end reports.
  • Audit, reconcile, consolidate, and transmit all credit cards in a timely manner.
  • Prioritize job functions to meet deadlines.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual data processing system functions.
  • Keep management apprised of any unusual operational or financial events or deviations from policies.
  • Respond to governmental inquiries as received.
  • Job Duties and Responsibilities
    • Walk the property frequently, observe and appropriately handle all safety/security matters; complete Incident Reports.
    • Know hotel layout, including fire exits, storage, electrical rooms.
    • Make rounds—check windows, doors, and be aware of unauthorized individuals.
    • Contact Police / Fire Department when appropriate.
    • Check parking lot for unauthorized vehicles and request towing when necessary.
    • Answer telephone calls with excellent customer service, take messages, and assist in guest requests during busy periods or if Night Auditor is away from desk.
    • Maintain radio contact with Front Desk using professional language and tone.
Skills Required
  • High level customer service, effective communication with guests and team members, ability to follow instructions.
  • Quick learning, attention to detail, composure under pressure.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and computer technology (e‑mail, MS Word, Excel, and hotel‑related systems).
  • Aptitude with numbers and data analysis.
Experience / Education
  • Knowledge/experience of accounting principles; prior customer service/hospitality experience preferred.
  • High school diploma and/or equivalent work experience.
Physical Demands
  • Extended periods of walking, standing, and keying in data.
