Duties The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB, Colorado Springs, CO is searching for a Contracting Officer for the SAIO (NH-1102-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Description:

The Space Acquisition and Integration Office in Colorado Springs is seeking a motivated developmental Contracting Officer to support a diverse portfolio of service acquisitions across space; cyber; intelligence, surveillence, and reconnaisance; radar; and satellite operations missions. This position is aligned with the Accelerated Compensation for Developmental Positions program and is designed to grow high-performing contracting professionals through increasing levels of responsibility, beginning with a $5M Contracting Officer Warrant and progressing to an Unlimited Warrant as developmental milestones are achieved, with compensation increasing along the way.

In this role, you will serve as a warranted Contracting Officer responsible for the full contract lifecycle, including market research, solicitation development, source selection, negotiations, awards, modifications, terminations, and cost/price analysis, while also building acquisition strategies, maintaining complete contract documentation, preparing and presenting briefings to leadership, and partnering closely with program managers, mission partners, and industry to deliver timely, compliant, and mission-focused contracting solutions.

Ideal Candidate:

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with at least 24 semester hours in business-related coursework such as accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management, or eligibility under an authorized exception to the OPM 1102.

- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to advise customers and brief leadership on acquisition strategy, contract status, and business recommendations.

- Demonstrated experience executing cradle-to-grave federal contracting, with preference for DoD services acquisition experience.

- Current Air Force Contracting Officer Warrant or ability to obtain a $5M Warrant as part of the hiring process. Candidates may be considered for NH02T03 Developmental Positions. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Must be a U.S Citizen.
* PCS / Relocation is not available.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
* Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
* May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
* May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
* Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
* Subject to TDY 30 days per year.
* Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
* Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
* The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
* This is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP).
* Alternative work arrangements, including establishing an alternate work location, may be considered for this position at the time of selection in accordance with mission requirements and agency policy. Qualifications DOD QUALIFICATION STANDARD FOR GS-1102 CONTRACTING POSITIONS This is an individual, single agency qualification standard for Department of Defense positions. This standard implements requirements contained in Title 10, United States Code, Sections 1723 through 1733, as amended by Section 861(b) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (Public Law 116-92) and implemented on a policy exception basis by Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment memorandum, Exception to 24 Semester Hours Requirement for Contracting Positions, effective and dated August 2, 2020.

Basic Education Requirements for GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent) positions:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees.
