Overview

CRITICAL CARE TRANSPORT EMT

Starting at $19.29 / hour with credit given for experience. We’re hiring a Critical Care Transport Emergency Medical Technician (CCT EMT) who will respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for medical assistance and deliver high-quality care, treatment, and customer service to patients during the night shift. This position works the night shift at Children’s Hospital in Colorado Springs with patients 0 days old to 22 years of age.

Responsibilities
  • Safely drive the Critical Care ground ambulance (CCT) and maintain the ambulance (fuel, oxygen, air and scheduled maintenance).
  • Assist the flight crew in the care of all patients transported by CCT.
  • Safely load and unload patients into the CCT ambulance and fixed wing airplane or helicopter.
  • Participate in public relations presentations for public awareness within the hospital and community.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings the 3rd Thursday of every month.
  • Participate in projects which contribute to meeting the program’s goals.
  • Complete equipment and orientation checklists.
  • Ensure the ambulance is ready for transport at all times by checking, restocking and cleaning the ambulance, equipment and supplies.
  • Assist the flight crew in completing daily checklists.
  • Obtain work phone and ambulance keys, check in with dispatch and inform them if using a different work phone or different ambulance.
  • Check in with flight crew and Children’s Hospital calendar to see if there are any pre-planned transports or PR events scheduled.
  • Complete annual mandatory training requirements.
  • Assist the flight crew with first of the month checks.
  • Report to the next shift any relevant information (e.g., ambulance fuel, oxygen or medical air needs, pre-planned transports and any equipment problems).
  • Ensure ambulance is locked and shoreline is plugged in and functioning appropriately.
  • Continuously check e-mails for ongoing updates and communication.
  • Contact dispatch to acknowledge pages for a transport request, communicate location, crew, risk assessment score and ETA.
  • Under the direction of the flight crew, assist with patient assessment (e.g., obtaining vital signs) and any patient care delegated by FRN and FRT.
  • Assist with getting patients ready for transport by setting up and placing patients on appropriate monitoring equipment under FRN direction.
  • Safely load and unload patients and equipment into the ambulance.
  • Understand CAMTS accreditation and rules.
  • Clean up and restock after transport.
  • The flight crew may delegate emergency procedures and medications to the CCT EMT within their scope of practice.
Other Responsibilities
  • Participate in community programs to maintain AMR and Children’s Hospital image while establishing strong community relations.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Colorado State EMT and CPR certificates.
  • Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 2 years.
  • 6 months of ambulance driving experience (strongly preferred).
  • Free of any clinical/corrective action.
