, a Series A startup revolutionizing the mining industry by engineering biological and data-driven systems. They focus on unlocking stranded copper while reducing chemical use and emissions, effectively extending the life of mine sites to support global electrification. Their mission-driven team operates at the intersection of microbiology, field deployment, and software to build high-impact, real-world sustainability solutions.

We are hiring a Senior Bioinformatics Data Engineer to build and operate the bioinformatics pipelines and data systems that underpin our biological programs. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on ensuring that sequencing data and experimental metadata are clean, traceable, and decision-ready. You will work closely with scientists and operators to translate biological outputs into usable formats, directly impacting how experiments are run and scaled.

Required

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong experience with Python and bioinformatics workflows, specifically using genomic data formats like FASTA and FASTQ.
• Robust SQL and relational database experience, with the ability to design and maintain schemas for analysis and reporting.
• Proven experience building and running scalable data pipelines in cloud environments.
• Clear communication skills and comfort working across disciplines, particularly between laboratory staff and engineers.

Nice to Have

• Experience with machine learning applied to biological data.
• Familiarity with lab instrumentation, physical data sources, Docker, and basic Dev Ops practices.
• Prior experience working in an early-stage startup environment.
• Competitive salary ranging from $110,000 to $140,000, plus a bonus.
