Job Summary

Serves as a senior operational leader and direct extension of the Director of Transportation. This position supports the Director in planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of the district’s transportation program to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service for all CCSD students and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. The approximation of frequencies and time allocation percentages are flexible and subject to the requirements of the organization.

  • 1. Assist in the daily oversight of transportation operations, including route coverage, dispatch coordination, and terminal performance. Support consistent service delivery across all terminals, ensuring alignment with district standards and expectations. Monitor operational performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed. Coordinate response to service disruptions, incidents, and emergency situations. Frequency:
    Daily, Time: 20%
  • 2. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pupil transportation laws and CCSD policies and regulations. Support implementation and monitoring of safety programs, accident review processes, and corrective action plans. Maintain required reporting and documentation for regulatory agencies. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the department. Frequency:
    Daily, Time: 15%
  • 3. Support routing, scheduling, and third‑party transportation processes to ensure efficient and equitable service delivery. Evaluate route structures, bell times, and service levels to optimize efficiency and cost‑effectiveness. Assist with planning for enrollment growth, program changes, and special transportation needs. Frequency:
    Daily, Time: 15%
  • 4. Collaborate with district leadership, school administrators, and internal departments. Communicate expectations, updates, and operational changes clearly to staff and stakeholders. Represent the Transportation Department in meetings, committees, negotiations, and community interactions as needed. Frequency:
    Daily, Time: 15%
  • 5. Collaborate with fleet maintenance to ensure bus availability, safety and inspection compliance, and lifecycle planning. Assist in planning for replacement vehicles, equipment needs, and capital investments. Monitor utilization of district parts and contracted transportation resources. Frequency:
    Daily, Time: 5%
  • 6. Provide leadership coverage and decision‑making support in the Director’s absence or as assigned. Frequency:
    Weekly, Time: 10%
  • 7. Assist in budget development, monitoring, and cost control efforts. Support long‑term planning initiatives and departmental restructuring or improvement efforts. Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, technology integration, and service improvements. Frequency:
    Monthly, Time: 10%
  • 8. Develop recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on departmental goals, enrollment projections and school grade configurations, including transportation for students in special programs. Frequency:
    Quarterly, Time: 5%
  • 9. Perform other duties as assigned. Frequency:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
