PRE-EMPLOYMENTREQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIESSUMMARY:
Administer first aid as necessary, maintain and update health records, clerical duties, data entry, provide health support care, respond to and document student injuries, illnesses and administer medications. Communicate with students, parents, staff and District RN concerning various health issues. Job tasks are under the direction of the District RN.
- Administer care and first aid consistent with district training and emergency care guidelines.
- Monitor injured or ill students who have reported to the health room and provide supportive care to students with chronic and acute diseases and respond to health-related emergencies within guidelines of District Clinic Management under the support of the District Area Nurse and as identified in the Health Aide Training and Resource Manual.
- Monitor student population for communicable diseases and contagious illnesses, as directed by District Area Nurse, assisting with appropriate mitigation communications to school community.
- Respond in health emergencies, including injecting subcutaneous injectable epinephrine or performing CPR.
- If necessary, perform tasks related to Type 1 Diabetes care: track family provided supplies, administer insulin, test blood sugar levels, assist in calling families.
- As authorized by the District Area Nurse, administer all medications, within the guidelines of District Policy JLCD, to students. Document appropriately as identified in district policy. Follow medication administration protocols and guidelines under the Department of Health Services.
- Perform health and personal need duties as directed and delegated to by District Nurse. This may include, but is not limited to, bathroom assistance, diapering, catheterizations, G‑tube feeding, suctioning and tracheostomy care, and lifting students.
- Maintain accurate and current student immunization records within Infinite Campus and Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS) with the support and guidance of the District Area Nurse. Notify parents via email/letters/phone calls to verify immunization requirements and needs for the student to be compliant with Colorado State Law.
- Maintain consistent communication with parents regarding medications, injuries, immunization status, vision and hearing screening of students.
- Maintain a record of student Health Room visits.
- Follow the District Nurse created Individualized Student Health Plans (ISHP), document any provided care.
- Provide ongoing and current updates and alerts regarding student health concerns to the District Nurse, and advise/follow up with school staff as appropriate and as directed by District Nurse.
- Organize vision and hearing screening/re‑screening appointments for students. Refer students for further testing as needed.
- As appropriate, prepare student health records for field/overnight trips (including outdoor lab), including permission forms for medications and organizing the medication and health needs for the students.
