The range listed reflects the entire range and typical placement is entry to mid range.

Pay Range - $15.16/hr - $20.99/hr    Position Purpose  Performs turf maintenance to parks, athletic fields, buildings, and facilities, including mowing, irrigation and fertilization.
Essential Job Functions
* Ensures all facilities and playing surfaces are in safe and operable condition.  Preparation of athletic fields to include: baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse.  Ability to operate field equipment.  Prepares fields for games including mowing, edging, watering trimming, and cleaning walkways and dugouts. Performs regular inspections and repairs of athletic facilities and amenities to include baseball field fencing and backstops, player benches, spectator bleachers, dugouts and dugout covers, backstop boards, play structures, and play areas.  

Maintains safety and playability of athletic fields.  Performs all maintenance tasks on athletic fields and sports turf areas including raking fields, sweeping, blowing and picking up clippings, paper, trash and other debris from athletic fields and surrounding grounds. Operates, inspects and maintains equipment for safe and proper operation including but not limited to push mowers, light duty vehicles, blowers, trimmers, and edgers.

Knowledge

Skills and Abilities

* Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and standard practices of park and athletic field  maintenance.
* Knowledge of mechanical operation of small tractors, mowers, and park-related vehicular equipment.
* Knowledge of basic hand and power tools, including shovels,  push mowers, blowers and weed eaters.
* Knowledge of safety rules, practices and procedures,
* Ability to maintain a safe working environment for self and others
* Ability to maintain and make minor repairs to irrigation system,
* Ability to follow instructions,
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees, and the general public.
* Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact positively and cooperatively with all levels of personnel within the city.
* Ability to work scheduled events on weekends and evenings as needed.
* Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Knowledge Skills Abilities Preferred
* Previous experience with hand tools and turf care equipment or related is preferred.

License & Certification
* A valid Colorado driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.

Work Experience Preferred
* Prior experience in park maintenance or related field preferred.

Other Qualifications
* Must be at least 16 years of age.

Physical Demands
* Strenuous to extreme physical effort that includes frequent use of heavy objects (e.g., 50+ pounds) and may also use heavy tools or require strenuous application in awkward positions. Individuals in strenuous positions must successfully complete a physical examination to ensure their fitness for duty.

Hazards
* Marginal to moderate exposure to conditions that are unpredictable and may lead to injury

Work Environment
* Regular exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
