TEMPORARY Seasonal Employee - Mueller State Park
Apply to join the Colorado Department of Natural Resources as a temporary seasonal employee at Mueller State Park. This is a temporary position (6-9 months or less) paying $16.55 per hour, with employment starting in 2026 (date variable). The announcement will remain open until the position is filled.

Available Positions PARK MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN/CABIN HOUSE KEEPER- Responsible for all general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities including restrooms, showers, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc.
- Maintain and clean cabins.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on state-owned vehicles and equipment.
- Assure quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair and cleanliness.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors.
- Assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds during the course of a workday.
- Willing to work outside, sometimes in inclement weather.
- Staff the park entrance station and/or the visitor center.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors.
- Operate a cash register.
- Handle telephone calls and messages.
- Photo‑copy and file documents.
- Collect revenue and complete shift reports.
- Prepare campground reservation forms and documents.
- Document and report visitor complaints.
- Perform light maintenance duties of gates, visitor center, and offices.
- Assist with special events or programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Require a valid driver’s license.
- Work in the backcountry on motorized and non‑motorized trail maintenance.
- Use hand tools, chainsaws, off‑highway vehicles, skid steer/tractor, etc.
- Assist other positions such as maintenance, rangers or visitor services when needed.
- Perform manual labor; outdoor exposure in varying weather.
- First Aid and CPR certifications required.
- Perform physical work in adverse conditions.
- Work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Previous trail supervision experience preferred.
- Age 21 or older; valid driver’s license.
- Pass a background check.

- Preference for applicants pursuing a natural resources degree or similar education.
- Schedule, plan and present Junior Ranger programs, school and group programs, campfire programs and guided hikes.
- Provide roving interpretation in campgrounds and day use areas.
- Work with volunteers and naturalists.
- May train volunteer naturalists.
- Market and promote attendance at programs.
- Assist the visitor center front desk.
- Work the visitor center front desk.

- Collect, catalog, organize and protect park collections.
- Attend assigned training sessions.
- At least 21 years of age.
- One year experience in interpretive and environmental education programming.
- First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Self‑motivated public speaker with good writing skills.

- Age: at least 16 years (21 for select positions).
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
