Overview

HIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (9 MONTHS OR LESS) - PAYING $17.00 PER HOUR. Employment starts 05/18/2026 through 08/21/2026.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) – The mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, provide a quality state parks system, and offer enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities. Description Of Job

Assist the Wildlife Technician with general upkeep and improvements of the State Wildlife Areas in Grand and Summit Counties. Primary duties include but are not limited to: invasive weed management, facility and equipment maintenance, fence repair and construction, operating and maintaining vehicles, trailers, ATVs, power and hand tools, data collection and record keeping, and answering wildlife-related questions from hunters, anglers, and the general public.

These positions will also assist biologists when available.

Minimum Qualifications , Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights
  • Housing may be available, but not a condition of employment.
  • BASIS:
    Compliance with the New Fleet Vehicle Policy;
    Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who will be driving a State-owned vehicle.
  • BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a current & valid driver’s license for operating a state vehicle
  • The work-site will provide some uniform items; however, the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office Suite, Google Apps)
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team
  • Must be able to hike long distances carrying tools or supplies
  • Must be willing and able to work outside in inclement weather
  • Must have experience with trailer handling and ATV/UTV operation
  • Must have a positive attitude towards the public, work, and coworkers
  • Must be able to lift 50–100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday
  • Weekend and evening work may be required
  • Must be comfortable working with and handling dead animals
  • Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check
  • Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle
  • Have an assigned State fleet vehicle
  • Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position
  • Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
