Position entails general ground and landscape maintenance. Operates and maintains mowers and small equipment. Repair irrigation systems and assist with response to weather events. Other related duties.
- This position will perform ground maintenance tasks such as mow, trim, prune, plant, and maintain other landscape elements. Average hours per week is 20.
- The Landscape/Grounds Worker will respond to and resolve work requests, complaints, or other conditions as they arise.
- This position will assist other maintenance staff with facility repairs when weather precludes outdoor work.
- As a member of the district services division this position will have direct contact with other district staff and the public to resolve maintenance needs. It will be expected that all interaction represents the district services division in a positive manner. Must be able to work well without constant supervision.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Good working knowledge of small hand tools.
- Basic knowledge of and ability to use vehicles and tractors.
- Basic knowledge of walk behind and riding lawn mowers, trimmers and other lawn equipment.
- Ability to use sound judgment and make good decisions in a stressful situation.
- Ability to adjust to frequent changes in job priorities and situations demanding immediate attention.
- High School diploma or equivalent or current student.
Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, heat, cold, snow, and humidity.
Physical Abilities:- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching required throughout the shift.
- Must be able to work with hands and arms in a variety of positions, including overhead.
- Ability to operate landscape maintenance equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, snow removal tools).
- Must be able to work on uneven terrain and slopes, and climb in and out of vehicles or equipment as needed.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify hazards in the environment and respond accordingly.
- Ability to tolerate repetitive motions and prolonged physical activity in variable conditions.
