Job DescriptionPLM Analyst (Polarizing Light Microscope) prepares and analyzes environmental samples in compliance with company Quality Assurance programs and SOPs. Responsibilities include reviewing data accuracy, uploading laboratory data into the LIMS, and generating reports to clients. The analyst schedules sample workloads, validates data, and supports QA processes across various analytical tests.
- Login, prepare, and analyze environmental samples for asbestos.
- Accurately enter and report sample descriptions and analytical data using LIMS.
- Perform independent QC analysis of other analysts’ work.
- Analyze reference materials, proficiency samples, and other quality control samples as needed.
- Maintain client service and provide technical support.
- Assist the QA manager in developing, implementing, and collecting QA processes for analytical tests.
- Perform and complete all analytical testing QA‑related tasks.
- Assist in pursuing, receiving, and maintaining laboratory accreditations.
- Coordinate projects according to rush status and due dates.
- Support co‑workers on analytical questions.
- Enforce company policies and ensure colleagues do the same.
- Manage and dispose of analyzed samples.
- Train new asbestos or other analytical testing analysts.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for errors and issues.
- Maintain equipment and coordinate services for all laboratory equipment.
- Communicate capacity to the Lab Manager.
- Support lab departments (login, asbestos, metals, pollen/spores) as needed.
- Perform polarized light microscopy (PLM) analysis of bulk samples per SOPs.
- Perform all analyses and quality control measures per SOPs.
- Conduct equipment maintenance and calibration per SOPs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Enter data into the LIMS and report data to the client verbally and electronically.
- Store and dispose of client samples per SOPs.
- Preferred:
Degree in Geology or related field. - At least 1–3 years of laboratory experience.
- Computer and software proficiency.
- Ability to multitask.
- Color vision sufficient for PLM analysis.
- Authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
This role is full‑time.
Work schedule:
Tuesday – Saturday 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm (Training conducted Monday – Friday).
Compensation Range: $20 – $27 per hour, based on experience.
