As a Broadband Technician III, you will perform extremely complex installations, disconnects, and service changes for residential and business customers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and PON/Metro E services. This role performs advanced troubleshooting from the tap to the customer's electronic devices (TV, DVD, modem, etc.). You will install, splice, repair, and maintain aerial, buried, and/or underground fiber optic and copper cable.

The selected individual must reside within a 60‑minute driving distance from the Berthoud, Colorado warehouse at 266 Basher Dr Unit 4, Berthoud, CO 80513.
Shift schedule
:
Tuesday through Saturday, 8am‑5pm, with on‑call rotation required.
- Perform complex installation of all necessary cable wiring (interior and exterior) and hardware from the tap to the customer's equipment, including RF distribution expertise.
- Conduct new connects, reconnects, disconnects, upgrades, downgrades, relocations, and installations of outlets and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with quality control guidelines and regulations such as OSHA, FCC, NEC, and NESC.
- Test equipment to identify and repair signal strength issues using Locators, TDR, FDR, and system maps.
- Monitor and record system drops, leakage, and other data required for work orders, surveys, and referrals.
- Promote cable, internet, and other company services; educate customers on proper usage and additional services.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of technical telecommunications experience—or current/prior military service with honorable discharge.
- 1+ year of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing, repair, and installation, or switch training.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Adherence to TDS attendance guidelines.
- Successful completion of customer‑specific requirements, including any required background check.
- Availability for on‑call/standby duties and occasional travel; willingness to work overtime.
- Successful completion of all components of the Safety Course curriculum.
- Maintenance of DOT requirements for vehicles with GVRW >10,000 lbs.
- Certification in RF distribution of signals, covering the network from optical node to distribution tap.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork.
- Proficient with computer applications.
- Familiarity with company products and services.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Customer service, sales, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Successful completion of the SCTE Broadband Premise Expert course.
The role requires sitting, standing, writing, handling a computer and telephone. Frequent movements include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Lifting may involve up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. The job may require outdoor work under various weather conditions and exposure to moving mechanical parts.
