Position: WATER AND FUEL SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER with Security Clearance
Duties
* Leads a team of trades and/or labor workers.
* Performs work. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
* Installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains a variety of new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewer, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, backflow prevention devices/assemblies, fire sprinkler systems, and showers.
* Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, sewage, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
* Uses testing equipment, take water samples, and adjusts small water systems to make water safe for distribution and consumption. Performs all phases of liquid fuels and water systems component maintenance including inspection, tests, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and system modifications. * Direct Deposit:

* Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
* Shift work may be required.
* On-call or standby duty status will be required. Emergency overtime may be required.
* Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
* The duties of this position require the employee to operate a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required.
* May work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste. Employee will be required to wear protective clothing and gear on these occasions.
* Wearing of arc flash protective clothing will be required.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.
* Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WL-4200 Plumbing and Pipe fitting Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a WATER AND FUEL SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Working knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s). 2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and equipment common to trades and labor work performed by the group being led. 4. Skill in performing the trade and/or labor work of the group being led. 5. Ability to lead a team of three or more labor or trade employees.
6. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Makes repairs from work stands and other hard-to-reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works both inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy. May work on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet, or in close quarters such as manholes or attics. Subject to electric shock, cuts, and bruises. May be exposed to temperature extremes in test facilities, extremely high noise levels, and exposure to lead, radiation, chemicals, or carcinogens.
